For or against gay marriage?

For almost all heavy topics, there are two main sides that people want to take; They either agree or disagree. A topic that is usually heavily argued and becoming more and more a part of life is gay or same sex marriage. People typically choose one of two sides; they are either for or against it. One of the not so obvious sides to take would be a more middle ground. When a person does not really choose to take a certain side, but rather agrees in some cases and disagrees in others. An example of this would be if two males or two females fell in love and wanted to get married a person might see that as a good thing and not as a problem. But if you add a child into the mix and that homosexual couple is trying to adopt, the person that once agreed with the situation might then disagree because they do not feel that, that is a good environment for a child to grow up in. Another middle ground to this topic and many others is that some people just do not care what happens. Having same sex couples around does not change their life at all. So, do you think there are more sides to this argument?

  1. I do not believe that the government has the right to decide that people of the same sex should not get married. I think it is unfair because even though it says that a man and woman should be the only ones to get married as the society evolves, things change and new customs have to be taken into consideration.

  2. I don't believe it makes any sense at all for the government to call the shots when it comes to marriage. If two people regardless of sex happen to be in love, then why shouldn't they be allowed to be married? Does the government expect them to just change their mind and ignore their natural urges?

  3. Deter crime but deter gay marriage? The government may try to put an end to same-sex couples altogether by prohibiting gay marriage rights, but gay couples can still be happily together regardless of obtaining a marriage certificate. People use their arguments including marriage is a sacred institution between a man and woman, marriage is immoral, marriage is procreation, and same-sex couples aren't the appropriate environment to raise children to justify their reasons for being against gay marriage but most of their insecurities revolve around their intolerance and uncomfortableness of this issue. People are people.

  4. I think the government already controls too much of our decisions and now they decide who can get married and who can't. Gay marriages aren't hurting anyone, they are just making people be with the person they love. I believe the people that are voting against this issue every year are people who follow the book day by day and have not realized that no one follows by the book anymore.
